First Snowstorm in NYC

Because even when the subways are delayed and running on different lines than they're supposed to be and you end up having to walk a mile to your friend's apartment through slush wearing not-quite-waterproof snow boots while carrying an umbrella inverted by the wind  – you're still lucky enough to live in New York, the greatest city in the world. 

And all the snowflakes that have dusted your coat and settled on your eyelashes are a million little reminders that you're alive and healthy and fortunate enough to be able to walk down a street and experience the here and now. So many people have a pulse but aren't alive. 

There's always a bright side – even during an overcast snowstorm.
