The Doughnut Lounge: Westport, Kansas City

If you haven't been to one of Westport's newest retail residents–The Doughnut Lounge–you're missing out. Partially funded by a successful Kickstarter, campaign, The Doughnut Lounge starts to intrigue from the street. The sign is the Doughnut Lounge's logo (created as a favor by a friend of the owner, Jake Randall) a doughnut with blue frosting and sprinkles with deer antlers, mounted on a wooden plaque. Trying to find your way at night after a few drinks throughout Westport? At night, the sign glows blue, becoming a beacon of artisan doughnuts and craft cocktails for bleary-eyed patrons of the district. Randall has been overwhelmed by the positive response, with an almost constant line out the door at any given hour since the grand opening. Try their best-seller, the Dolly, a doughnut filled with sheep's milk custard, iced with a root beer glaze and topped with a basil leaf. The combination makes for a jarring description upon reading, but don't think about it and just take a bite.
